What is the School Uniform?

At Emsworth Primary School we take pride in our appearance and expect all pupils to follow the dress code.  Our uniform is as follows:

Winter Uniform

Girls - skirt or trousers in either black or grey, white shirt and navy school sweatshirt or cardigan, sensible low heeled black leather shoes.

Boys - shorts or trousers in either black or grey, white shirt and navy school sweatshirt, sensible black leather shoes, strictly no trainers.

Summer Uniform

Girls - blue and white gingham dress, option of leather sandals.

Boys - as winter, option of leather sandals.

School sweatshirts, cardigans and fleeces with the school logo on are available to purchase from the school office.

Please note: Jelly shoes, boots and trainers (other than for PE) are not allowed to be worn during the school day.

You can order school uniform online by following the link below:

Alternatively, any unbranded version of the same uniform can be purchased from any clothing store.

Reusing Uniform

EPSA (Emsworth Primary School Association) also holds regular second-hand uniform sales at the school.  At these events, parents can pick up clean, second-hand uniform for a fraction of the cost.  This helps keep our parents’ costs down and helps to limit the impact our uniform has on the planet!

When your child leaves EPSA or grows out of their current uniform, please do donate any leftover uniform items you have to help with this.

What is the P.E. Kit?

Please be aware that indoor P.E. and games are played in bare feet in line with Hampshire Education Policy.  Children with verrucae will not be excluded from PE and will not be required to wear protective footwear.

Boys and girls: Blue Shorts and a White T-shirt, plimsolls or trainers (for outdoor games).  In winter, tracksuit trousers and a sweatshirt are also recommended.

Sports bags with the school logo on are available to purchase from the school office.

Can my child wear jewellery?

In line with the Hampshire Health and Safety Policy, the school agrees that it can be dangerous for children to wear jewellery to school, in particular during PE and playtimes.

If your child has pierced ears, then one pair of studs is acceptable. However, these must be removed before any PE lessons and long hair must be tied back.   If the earrings are new children must provide micropore tape to cover them (but only for a four week period, after which earrings must be removed).  In these circumstances great care must be taken to cover the spike at the back of the ear lobe. As staff are not permitted to do this for children, we strongly recommend that parents of younger children prepare them before they come to school.

Watches must be removed and collected by the class teacher before any PE lessons and sent to the office for safe storage. Letters will be sent home if this regulation is not adhered to.

Can my child wear makeup?

Children are discouraged from wearing any type of makeup.

We appreciate your co-operation in these matters.
