School Uniform

What is the School Uniform?

At Emsworth Primary School we take pride in our appearance and expect all pupils to follow the dress code. Our uniform is as follows:

School Uniform

Our school’s uniform is: 

  • Black or grey trousers, shorts, skirts or skorts
  • White shirt or white or light blue polo shirt
  • Grey pinafore 
  • Blue and white checked summer dresses (summer term only) 
  • Navy school sweatshirt (jumper) or cardigan (this can be with the school logo or without) 
  • Black sensible shoes or black trainers (no white/coloured soles or logos)
  • Socks/tights – plain grey, navy, black or white only

  • We no longer have a range of uniform for sale at the office, only PE t-shirts
  • Uniform can be purchased via Skoolkit (shop in Havant or online) as well as School Trends online

Please note: Jelly shoes and boots are not allowed to be worn during the school day.

Reusing Uniform

EPSA (Emsworth Primary School Association) also holds regular second-hand uniform sales at the school. At these events, parents can pick up clean, second-hand uniform for a fraction of the cost. This helps keep our parents’ costs down and helps to limit the impact our uniform has on the planet!

When your child leaves EPSA or grows out of their current uniform, please do donate any leftover uniform items you have to help with this.

P.E. Kit

Please be aware that indoor P.E. and games are played in bare feet in line with Hampshire Education Policy. Children with verrucae will not be excluded from PE and will not be required to wear protective footwear.

Boys and girls:

  • Blue or black shorts (plain tracksuit bottoms, jogging bottoms, leggings or skorts are also acceptable) 
  • White t-shirt or polo shirt. (These can also be the colour of the child’s house: Thorney = blue; Fowley = yellow; Prinsted = green; Hayling = red) 
  • A school sweatshirt (again with or without logo) 
  • Plain black or white trainers or plimsolls (no coloured soles or logos)

Pupils are asked to come into school on the day of their PE / Games lesson wearing their PE kit. They can wear it for the full school day.

Can my child wear jewellery?

In line with the Hampshire Health and Safety Policy, the school agrees that it can be dangerous for children to wear jewellery to school, in particular during PE and playtimes.

  • Watches may be worn (not smartwatches)
  • Pupils should remove watches for physical activity for safety reasons;
  • Pupils whose ears are pierced must only wear one pair of small plain stud earrings;
  • Earrings should not be worn to school on the days where PE takes place; if they must be worn, they should be covered by surgical tape which must be provided by the parent; 
  • No other type of jewellery should not be worn to school for safety and security reasons. 

Hair and makeup

  • Hairstyles should be smart and moderate in style; pupils should not have their hair dyed
    or bleached / shaved, including patterns;
  • Any hair accessories should be discreet and uniform colour i.e. no large flowers/bows;
  • Long hair should be tied up to avoid health and safety risks and ensure that children’s
    vision is not impeded;
  • Pupils should NOT wear any form of makeup (including nail varnish).
